However, the organization had no reliable information on the extent of the problem since its legacy anti-spam solution could not analyze and report on key statistics, such as the volume of incoming spam. The Proofpoint appliance was up and running at Hammersmith in only one day and the results were just as immediate, with more than 100 spam messages flagged each hour. In addition, Proofpoint's solution has proved extremely effective and accurate, with virtually no instances of false positives -- particularly important since many legitimate business emails coming into Hammersmith contain medical terminology, which is at risk of being mistakenly labeled as spam.
